Can anyone give me some advice on towns or even specific communities that are very close to one of the lakes, and are still affordable. I'm looking in the 200k-250k range, is that possible. Maybe near Huntersville?

Yeah, you've got A LOT to choose from. Here's a link from April: Looking for nice communities near Mooresville or Davidson areas.....

Note: Victoria's Bay should read Victoria Landing.

There really is a plethora of neighborhoods in your price range. You should have no problem finding a nice home in a great community near the lake.

Check out our neighborhood on the southern end of Lake Wylie, near Rock Hill. We have quite a few homes in your price range.

If you're looking for a townhome, there's a community in Cornelius across from Midtown Sundries and Lake Norman. My fiance and I stopped there before and liked it, though we're still looking around too. It's called "Harbor" something?
