I let my plate lapse in March when it was up for renewal because I took my car off the road. I didn't turn the plate in though. Do you know if I'd be able to renew this plate or if I'd have to go to DMV and start the process over?
I never canceled the insurance because the insurance policy was paid up and not worth the $50 or so I'd get in refund.

Any ideas please, I know DMV has long waits and I don't want to go there and then not accomplish the task.

Thanks for your help/

You should be able to pay the renewal fee now. See if you can renew online.

Yeah, you should be able to renew it online, go on the nc dmv website. You'll need the tag number and the last 5 digits of the title number.

I wouldn't wait. The DMV may have locked your ability to renew online since the registration expired in March. I'd try it now. All you need is the information on your expired registration card or renewal notice and a credit card.

Do you know anything about the inspection, that's expired too and I don't want to get the $250 fine from DMV. I guess I better get on the phone.

You can go to most service stations and they generally will do the inspection or have it posted that they do inspections.
Here is a list of inspection stations

You also do not want a ticket from a cop and deal with going to court
so I would get that done this afternoon.

Doesn't she needs a valid vehicle registration for inspection? Her tag expired in March.

I forgot about that part of this conversation
but you are right
you will need to show them your registration so take of that first.
and I think it is one month after the due date you have to get it inspected before cops start hazzzling.
Until this is done stay out of Huntersville .
They love giving tickets to newcomers for improper registration.
Here the proof if you scroll down to June 17 you will start seeing oodles of tickets for it.

This is just for one week
