We were at an office right off Providence today near 485. All of the fire hydrants in the parking lot were open and running. None of the office buildings had any running water whatsoever all day.

Yep, they are still open and running, and we residents can't brush our teeth or flush the toilet. They said it would "definitely" be fixed by 1 pm. Latest update:

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities crews continue their around the clock repair on a 4-inch water line along the 4700 block of McKee Road. Water service has been restored to some residents in the Providence Arbors apartment complex, but there are still several hundred customers in the apartment complex and in the area without service. The repair is expected to be finished by no later than 8 p.m.

Repair on the leaking line began last night. Utilities officials say the work has been complicated by unforeseen parts and equipment needs, and difficulty shutting off water service in the vicinity where the repair needs to be made. Half-gallon jugs of drinking water have been brought in and made available near the worksite for affected customers. Extra Utilities staff were brought in this afternoon to help distribute water to residents who can't come and get it.

"This water outage has gone on longer than normal because the repair has been a tough one," said Utilities spokesman Vic Simpson. "We appreciate our customers' patience and understanding while we work as quickly as we can to restore water service." NEXT ONLINE UPDATE WILL OCCUR BY 9 PM."

Providence Arbors is not an apartment complex.

Also, funny how it's going to be fixed by 8 but there will be another update by 9.

And I haven't seen one jug of water.

Guess I'll just have to go to Wolfgang Puck's for dinner and wash it down with something else

Unreal. And this was moving quickly to fix it? Wonder what a "regular" repair is like - guess that takes four days.

Glad you have water again . . .
