Default Water pressure in Providence area -- water main break?

Our water pressure went down to about 25 percent of normal sometime around 10 pm last night. This morning, same thing. I called 311 and they said there is a huge water main break in the "Providence area." Does anybody know what's going on? There's not even enough pressure to shower. We're near Providence and McKee/Ballantyne Commons.

Anybody else?

Bueller?

Bueller?

It's been 12+ hours and we can't flush, can't wash -- there's enough to brush teeth, but barely. And there's nothing on the utilities website, the news, etc. I wonder how big a break this is and why it's taking so long to fix! Any insight?

Hey - Solnechko - did they get this straightened out?

My water in Miss Scarlett's bowl had sediment that collected in it over nite! I poured her some fresh water in her upstairs bowl about 1 am during the nite - and this morning by 7 am it haf sediment in the bottom of the bowl! ICK!!!

Now I am using the Brita filter water pitcher to pour her water. I just wonder what is in the water that would allow it to have sediment settle in the bottom of a bowl in six hours.

Hope your water is back now.

No, still not fixed. Finally got a note from HOA and it did address sediment:

"As of 1 PM today, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities stated that they now expect the repairs to the water lines to be completed between 5 -6 PM this evening. Unfortunately, as many of us already know, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities initially thought the work would be done this morning, so there are no guarantees.

When the water finally comes back on there will be dirt, sediment, etc. in the system. To be safe you should turn on an outside faucet and let it run for about 15-20 minutes to clear the lines of both dirt and air pockets."

Thank you, Solnechko, for posting about the sediment. I wonder why my water has this much sediment in it. I did two loads of wash b/f I went to bed last evening.

I hope your water gets fixed b/f much longer. It is such a huge inconvenience . . .
