Couldn't disagree more. I think Charlotte is a perfect sized city and offers a lot for its size. Sure, a city of 6 to 12 million people may offer more, but I have no desire to live in a city of 6 to 12 million.

i love how we have a topic and certain people(only a few) find an excuse to badmouth the city. yes, were not london yet. we are a large city just not yet a metropolis. we are on the right track. some people act like you have to go to atl or another big city to do anything fun. certainly not true. we dont have the cultural options of the biggest cities, yet but as much or more than similar sized or slightly bigger cities. we will get there.

They're still sore after the beating they took a few miles west of here. We could have the UN headquarters here and still not be considered "world class" to them!

Actually Rockall would be the best place for the UN headquarters.

Am I hypocritical when I celebrate July 4th

There are only about ten or fifteen cities in the world that I would consider "world class". I don't think anyone in Charlotte should worry that their city is not considered in the same class as London, New York, Tokyo, Paris, etc.

Don't worry, we're not.

The only people that worry are those that are concerned with shiny new things (re: Govco).

What I find weird is why it would even be a topic up for discussion. We have under 700,000 people in Charlotte. Our whole MSA is what - 1.2 Million or so? Maybe 1.5 M? How the heck could we be considered on the level w/ London, Paris, NYC, CHI, etc?

I don't understand why it was necessary to even talk about whether or not we are a world-class city.
