Boat parking on Street??
Hello, Does anyone know if it is legal to leave one's boat on a street? A neighbor in my cul-de-sac has shown up with a boat with an out of state license plate. The boat was towed by a uhaul trailer. The moving trailer is gone now.
I'm concerned that he has long term house guests or family that has moved in with him and that he may plan on leaving the boat parked on the street. It is a large boat --about as wide as the recyling trucks that collect weekly and probably a little longer from tip to end. My HOA is unorganized and useless so I'm wondering the legalities.
TIA!!

Are there no covenants attached to your deed stating such things? You can have covenants even w/o a HOA being active.
You ought to just go tell your neighbor that you were wondering if the boat might be for sale . . . and see what he says. You can find out his long range plans for it . . . and may turn out he is just looking for a drydock somewhere . . .
Are you in the city limits?

Put a sign on the trailer that reads, "Free to a good home!" I bet its gone by tomorrow.

yep in city limits. you can't keep a boat here per the hoa covenants -- but I'm not sure i could get the hoa to address it. the mgmt company basically collects dues and that is about it.

You could try calling 311 and asking for advice on what to do or to see if this is against any street ordinances.
Inconsiderate neighbors are just the worst.

hahahahahahahaha - I love it!
I would just bravely approach the new neighbors and say something to inquire as to his plans. Then slip in the part about how parking like this long term is against the neighborhood covenants and restrictions - act like he just wanted him to know so he won't get a fine or anything

The HOA board should be able to tell the management company to write them a letter stating that it is against the rules.
That's why you pay dues, so things like that get taken care of.

BARKING: that is hilarious!!!!
BAYBOOK: I'll be glad to fix ya up w/ a sign!!!!
Just gotta ask . . . did this neighbor just move in, or has he been here a while??? Surely he knows the boat is in the way and an annoyance . . . I wondered if he is typically an inconsiderate neighbor about other stuff or is this a first . . .?
