This is probably the most attractive looking Best Buy I have ever seen and it blends in just fine with the look of the area. If you look at the site plan, Best Buy and Petsmart will actually be hidden because there will be multiple buildings in front of them closer to Rea Rd. Those smaller buildings just haven't been built yet. Take a look...
And just an FYI, this whole area has been planned out for a long time. I remember when Rea Rd didn't extend all the way out to Providence, but Raeburn always had a gap where there were no houses (where Rea Rd cuts through now). Raeburn is a neighborhood that was built in the 80's and everyone knew that eventually Rea Rd. would be extended through there. Me and my friends used to ride our bikes on the dirt mounds that are now all the houses and shopping. If you are anti-growth, it probably wasn't a good idea to relocate to this area.
thank you Mike for posting that, interesting salsarita's will do great, though I prefer MO's....and Manhattan bagel good choice for breakfast, also not a fan, I think by the time everything is done its going to look beautiful as that is what the area is like
I wonder if there will be a bookstore in Blakeney. It's amazing that with all of the shopping centers on Providence Road (from Ballantine Commons to the Village of Waxhaw) that there's no bookstore. If one lives in Union County (whether on Providence, Marvin, etc.), it's ridiculous to have to go all the way to Stonecrest, and there's only one, mediocre Borders there. By contrast, there are many bookstores by the Southpark Mall.
Stonecrest is not even 5 min. past blakeney. I don't know if they could support another large bookstore so close.
Borders obviously wouldn't want a store in Blakeney, but what about Barnes & Noble, for example? There are a lot of people in Union County. Considering that the closest Barnes & Noble is by the mall, they could put one there.
I am amazed by the lack of bookstores in Charlotte. Do book retailers think that only people who live in Southpark read?
That's a sufficiently long drive from Hunter Oaks. Hopefully, there will be a bookstore in Blakeney some day or maybe in the New Towne Gardens.
