Borders obviously wouldn't want a store in Blakeney, but what about Barnes & Noble, for example? There are a lot of people in Union County. Considering that the closest Barnes & Noble is by the mall, they could put one there.
I am amazed by the lack of bookstores in Charlotte. Do book retailers think that only people who live in Southpark read?
All of southwestern Union and northern Lancaster is under served when it comes to book stores and library books. I've heard the Waxhaw Public library is quite cramped and noisy. I'm excited to have the new Lancaster branch opening up in Sun City. The Barnes at the mall is nice being two floors.
I agree with you, a Barnes and Noble would work well at Blakeney. I'd sit and read a book while my wife could shop.
wait until the huge library comes into waxhaw..we are just waiting to hear if they made the final decision on where exactly on providence its going and when it will open...
When this discussion began by talking about the Best Buy, I don't know how you guys converted it over to a discussion about a bookstore in the Arboretum?!
Anyway, the Best Buy in that location is a great idea. However, the service offered at that particular location is absolutely pitiful. Good luck getting in touch with a sales associate within a five minute timespan. If they are to ever get it straight there, they would hire about 10-12 more representatives that can (and will) be out on the floor looking for customers to help.
Now keep in mind...I'm not interested in hearing about the customer service at the nearest Barnes & Noble.
that isnt even a fair comparision, some other places these big stores in the most upscale places...again where there is this much growth and open space you have to expect the big stores to come in...its all about the money
Davidson is very upscale and they have managed to keep all stores like this out of their town.

Couldn't agree more. I was thrilled that they were bringing Best Buy to Blakeney since it would save me a ton of time from having to go to Pineville. I have been a few times and every time the service is just awful. Like you said, good luck finding anyone and when you do, they do not know their a$$ from their elbow.
So, the store is much closer to me, yet I continue to be a loyal customer to the Pineville location. I will not go to the Blakeney store even if it's just a simple purchase. That store needs a total revamp...
