i am a die hard yankee fan also, and i am moving to sw charlotte in april. it is true that directv has it, but you have to subscribe to the most expensive package to get it. its like $90.00 a month. the 2 lower packages do not offer YES. i have directv now and have that package, but i am lucky to split the bill with my landlord.

If it's the actual Yankee games you want to see (as opposed to just Yankee coverage) you will need to get DirecTV as well as the MLB Extra Innings baseball package, which will probably run you about $160 or so for the season. Then you will get the Yankee home games on YES as well as road games on other regional sports networks (such as FSN Chicago, if they're playing the White Sox on the road). The sports package, where you get all of the regional sports nets is like 11.00 a month extra, but you won't get the baseball games (or other pro sports) unless you ante up for the season package, such as MLB Extra Innings for baseball. Word is that MLB is signing an exclusive deal with DirecTV for this season, so those who were able to get the Extra Innings package through Dish Network or a cable provider such as Time Warner will have to switch to DirecTV or be out of luck.

Must be very different down there. Up here in Connecticut, YES is in the Total Choice Plus package that costs 49.99 a month. Is it different in different parts of the country, or because of our proximity to New York City ?

I'd like to know, too. I have YES through DirecTV now in CT. I looked at the program guide for the high-end package (Total Choice Plus?) that I have now and it doesn't specify any regional limitations. As long as I can see the home games!

NC needs a baseball team.....preferably an AL team so I can see some games in person when I move down!!!

Just getting the sports package will not get you any MLB games. If you get the sports package without paying the extra $160.00 or so for the MLB Extra Innings package, the games will be blacked out. Keep that in mind.

That's correct!! We found that out the hard way! Die-hard Yankee fans in my house & both hubby & I worked at Yankee Stadium, so you know we have to have Yankees games here. I contacted YES to find out who carried them in Mooresville, it was only available with Directv. It was ugly in my house all of Sept & Post season. We saw everything up until the start of the game & then WHAM...BLACKOUT!! My husband was not a happy camper!! It was too late in the season to pay $160 for access to the games & they wouldn't pro-rate it. Because we are not in the "NY Yankees market area", the games are blacked out if you don't have the MLB package. Definitely paying for it next month!

19 more days until pitchers & catchers!
