Urbanist thinkers in CLT?
Who are the major urbanists ie: city planners, forward thinking for urban life in CLT. I would just like some names and I will research what they have to say on my own.
TIA

I'm not sure that there are specific outspoken individuals or advocates for "urbanizing" Charlotte. The only one that comes to mind is Donald Trump...but then again, he's not urbanizing all by himself...he's just adding to it.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding the question...

My fault. I had a conversation today with a very respected developer in the CLT area. He talked at length about areas close -in to uptown and the transformation that has taken place and is taking place in these urban area. We discussed many of the reasons why we felt this will continue (too lenghty for all that right now) and what CLT will look like in 5 years if the price of gas continues to climb. He dropped some names of organizations and people that are very much involved in this kind of planning. I'm not familiar with any of the names he mentioned and would like to do some of my own thinking. So..are there city plannesr that back urban renewal? Agencies that are involved in"revitalizing" ? Pols that are stumping for it? I would like to put a name to people that are involved in urban planning or revitalization..if there is one.
Just starting from scratch on a subject I know little about.
Hope this helps.

Here's a link that might get you started: New Urbanism Events: Charlotte New Urbanism Event from Chris Leinberger
Also, maybe there might be some info in the New Urbanism site:
http://www.newurbanism.org/newurbanism/principles.html
I Googled new urbanism ... give that a try as well.
Very interesting. There are some deeply involved new urbanists in Waynesville, NC, Franklin, and that part of WNC - I was involved in some planning meetings to develop a new urbanist plan for FRanklin - but haven't read or seen much in this area. The 10 principles are sorely needed, not just here but almost everyhere!
Good luck!

There is a web site based in CLT that is all about urban living and thinking. I find it very informative, there is a huge amount of info about all the projects going on in CLT. Click on the link and check it out it might help you find what you are looking for. Beware if you decide to post there, the moderators rule with an iron fist and are not all warm and fuzzy like CDF!!!

What names did you come up with, I wouldn't mind doing some research myself.
