Are you for real?

That ignorant quote didn't even deserve a response!

My husband worked off of Westinghouse Blvd. in an enormous warehouse/office park on Granite. All you can smell is the Lance factory and the Continental Tire factory. Then you have S. Tryon. Where is there to live? I'm very much for real.

28273 stretches along ways from Westinghouse Blvd & South Tryon St.

Perhaps before you make such a rude remark...you should venture out there and ride around. S. Tryon St. SOUTH of I-485 is quite nice and getting VERY built up!

I have no ties to that area but for you to make a statement like that was NOT called for!

What ZIP do you live in?

How about Huntington Forest, Steele Creek, The Crossings - all neighborhoods with homes in the $200's and up!

Geez. Sorry. i just think it's an unattractive part of town. My approach was always off of South, down Westinghouse. You really have to agree with me that it is NOt an appealing stretch of road.

So you are basing the WHOLE area (28273) on 1 little part. Shall we base 28226 on the 2 low income housing areas? Is it ALL that way?

When the whole I-485 Loop is finished then they will widen. That will be 10-15 years. Who would want to live in South Charlotte and deal with that for at least 10 more years of dead stop traffic. That is the only part of I-485 that is just 2 lanes on each side (South Charlotte).

I have lived in both North & South. I prefer Uptown. But if I had to choose, I would choose North Mecklenburg! If I were to choose South I would choose Fort Mill, SC!

Also...you can NOT say that all those ZIP codes listed are bad. I would NOT want to break down in some parts of ZIP Code 28031 (Cornelius...Smith Circle)! And Cornelius is know for being very upscale.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Very interesting, and I had not heard about that 485 part. I guess I'm a little jaded because all I hear about is the complaining of how the south part needs to be widened. Thanks for sharing that!

Also I will echo your sentiments: uptown is very nice and probably as safe (if not safer) than the 'burbs of Charlotte. One more thing I will mention is that surrounding counties (Union, Cabarrus, Iredell) have lower taxes than Mecklenburg, so be sure to figure that into your budget.
