You could commute from Rock Hill to Waxhaw, though depending on where your worksite is located it may be closer to live in Waxhaw. To check school report cards for NC: http://www.ncreportcards.org/src/ (Click on Union County and list of schools will come up)
for SC: http://ed.sc.gov/topics/researchands...oolreportcard/
Let me know if I can help you in your home search and best of luck to you

For schools reasons, I think I'd choose Waxhaw. It's in the Weddington schoold district (at least schools above Route 75) Taxes may be little higher than the rest of Union County. There are still some decently priced homes that wont break your wallet and you're in a hot area. Check out these townhomes http://www.standardpacifichomes.com/....aspx?NID=1489
Waxhaw is very rural with tons of farms still around. But you can see that development is moving in. Waxhaw keeps lowering their sales tax it seems and property tax is .97 cents per $100 I think. Good luck.

On we are moving to that area, and some of waxhaw so to speak is marvin also from what I can see...some areas dont have a post office like the area we are looking in so they use the waxhaw zip code...also in some developments you DONT pay a city tax like for instance we are looking at 1 development that im only paying union county taxes so on a house of 400k is going to cost me 2000 in property taxes...now in other developments u are paying a city tax as well as county tax that is where JAN is getting that .97 the best person to talk to is South.Charlotte&Union she is a realtor and can give you the info that you need....for that area...
good luck to you
Hope that helps a bit, it gets very confusing and very overwhelming..but hang in there...

Just my opinion, and nothing against Rock Hill, but Waxhaw is much more desirable. Beautiful, scenic, rural, great schools, no crime - no contest
