My husband is a department manager in nj, thinking of relocating was hoping someone out there actually works in a supermarket and could give us and idea on salary range. He has been a department manager for 12 years so the experience is definitely there. Also if you could tell us which is the better supermarket to work for. We are thinking of relocating to mecklenburg county. Thanks for you help

I dont work in a super market but I do have two recomindations

Trader Joeswhich is more like a grocery store than supermarket but it is ran by germans and I have heard there pay and benefits are better than average.
However I did not see anything available on their website but the website doesnt list all the locations in Charlotte either so it could be dated.
http://www.traderjoes.com/

Harris Teeter is the other. Every store I have been in has been well staffed and the employees are very helpful and knowledgable. A great staff and plenty of them indicates to me that it is a good place to work for. Harris Teeter is headquartered here.

grocery store is just groceries .. mainly things you eat.

Supermarket may have lawn furniture, grills, pharmacy, etc.

Why Mecklenburg Co. specifically? I moved from PA. to Charlotte,NC in '86.Loved it and still love it. Due to my husband's job we have moved out of state (insert sad face here...)So, I have seen the growth. Taxes are lower in surrounding counties....that being said , should you choose another County to live please take the traffic into consideration. However, there are tons of grocey stores around, not to mention Super Target and SuperWalmart which also sell food. Personally I love Harris Teeter. Nice, clean. My niece moved down and worked there for awhile until her other career came through.
I also loved shopping at Lowes Foods and Fresh Market. There is a new Trader Joe's that everyone raves about, but I've never been there.
If you choose to live in another county you'll still have reasonable access to events (concerts--indoor and outdoor, Broadway shows/symphany/opera at the Blumenthal in Uptown Charlotte,Nascar races, Carowinds amusement park, US National White Water Park if you're into hiking/ Mtn Biking/climbing, 2 lakes in the area if you like fishing and boating, lots of shopping malls).
I hope this helped some. Best of luck to you and your husband.

You probably will not make what you make in NJ and competition is stiff. I would have DH do some research first.
