High Speed Internet
just wondering who uses what?
we were using windstream (CTC) and were paying $29.99 for 12mb speed.
it just went up to 49.99 and i don't want to pay that.
i mainly use the net for basic online surfing and playing my playstation 3 online.
who do you use and how much do you pay? and what speed do you have?

I think most of the high speed providers offer something in the $20-30/month range, but it's not gonna be 12mbps! That was either a mistake on their end or you had some limited promotion. Roadrunner's highest speed is only 7mbps and is $40/month. For $30/month, you're going to get 0.5-1.5mbps max from any provider.
As much as I don't like Time Warner, they do offer the best high speed (my experience is comparing to DSL).

I pay $32.95 for 6 meg DSL with AT&T; that includes a perpetual discount of $10 monthly. If I were in need of long distance, I would go with the local, unlimited long distance, and DSL package they're currently promoting for $60/month.

I would like to say there is unfortunately not a very good choice at this time in the Charlotte area. I have Time Warner Road Runner, Road Runner access is very good but the administration at Time Warnaer is the worst I have run accross, I have had issue's for over 5 year's. I contacted AT&T and the only thing they can offer is 1.5 mbps, Windstream is not even availible, and I am leary of the wireless stuff. I wish there was another company that offered better service in the Charlotte area. I would leave Time Warner in a second. If anyone has any suggestion I would be glad to hear them.

We've been using Time Warner's service since we moved here this summer and have not had any problems with the service so far.
Expect costs for all of these to go up in the next few years. All of the big providers are starting to experiment in test markets with a surcharge for excessive usage (you can google this to find out more - I don't have time to look up the links at the moment. I know Comcast is doing this in parts of Baltimore starting soon).

since you are a gamer, it is best to stay with what you got. You will be sadly regretting downgrading when you lose speed and start lagging.

RR Turbo is 10mb. I have no idea what the monthly charge is since its lumped together with digital cable.
