Wonderful stuff. I am going back now.
Very interesting to see how the paths of hurricanes have changed over the years. For instance.. it seems that in the 20's more storms skirted the Atlantic coast and ended up in NE or Nove Scotia etc.... addicting, yet informing.
I typed in the link one way, but it posted another... but if you click on the links on the page you can get there.. I promise..sorry

Thanx, Chick! This stuff can be hypnotic . . . and addictive!!! LOL!!!
Wonder if this link is a straight guide to the page . . .

Latest track shows the dead center of Hannah's projected path passing just west of here- possibly still at Cat I strength, sometime Friday evening. Lived with Isabel in 04- no power for 3 days. It was really more an inconvenience than a hardship, but I'll be better prepared this time!

Yes, Hoagie, best to just be prepared. And what the heck. So you stock up on some pantry items - you will use them eventually, LOL!! That is how I see it.
Just don't forget the toilet tissue. I ran out one time in a blizzard in KS . . . and was having to tear up Bounty towels for the family . . . thank god I had paper towels!!! So I always think about toilet tissue . . .
If you have kids, you probably keep wet wipes anyway, but if taking a bath is a problem (cold water - all electric) . . . it is nice to have wet wipes around, too.
I think I have everything we would need . . . may run out and get some more doggie food. Miss Scarlett is quite picky - she won't eat anything but Beneful in those little containers. SIGH. So I have to make sure I have those.
Most likely, even if Hanna heads dead on for us, she may be very disorganized by the time she would get here . . . and be nothing more than a tropical storm (and probably not a really bad storm, at that). Of course, she could mess around in the Atlantic for a while and get stronger . . . no one knows . . .
So I guess my point is . . . good idea to get the batteries and whatever necessities - top off your gas tank, get your cash . . . just in case.
BTW - anyone noticing the other little depression near Africa? That could become Ike. We may end up having an active hurricane system this year.

The latest (5:00pm) map shows Hanna making a bee line for us! It should be an interesting Friday night.

If I still lived in Concord/Charlotte I would be concerned about Hanna- not scared, but definitely concerned. I lived through HUGO and over the years experience has taught me that if the storm hits land around the GA/SC line- Charleston or so--it hits Charlotte area the worst. I don't know, storms that come in near Charleston just shoot right to Charlotte and it also puts people on the NE side which feeds tornadoes....I am not as worried about living on the coast, 4 miles from the ocean, near the NC/SC line (as in mainlaind Ocean Isle Beach/Shallotte area) at all as I would be if I was in Concord, about Hanna. The only thing that really affects the coast, I know from my husband's family having lived here for generations, is a direct hit of a higher category. I don't remember which storm it was but one hit North Myrtle Beach -20 minutes south of here- and was only just like a bad thunderstorm closer to Wilmington.
Hugo was just terrible. Worst storm I have ever lived through, although to be fair, not as bad as what people in Florida or Louisiana have endured.
I am keeping an eye on Hanna....it looks to me like it will be worse for Charlotte than for me at Ocean Isle Beach, IF it comes in where they are predicting it will in northern Georgia. If it strengthens and heads more north and looks like it will hit us directly I am still not worried unless it is a category 3 or higher. We are due for a big one...hopefully not this season though.
Anyone else remember Hugo?? The worst was the tornadoes it spawned and the power outages- downed powerlines and traffic lights out in Charlotte at major intersections. I am not afraid of Hurricanes, not that I would want to be in a Cat 5 directly....but I am VERY afraid of tornadoes!!! Very.

Is it just me or does the "tracking" of Gus look like we will possibly be getting some of residuals from that by Friday from the West and Hanna is coming at us from the East? This should be interesting!
