Does anyone know the parade route? My daughter's marching band is marching. I see that the parade ends at Matthews United Methodist Church. So, where does it start, and where is a good place to park and view the parade?

Hi marvinnative, long time no see
Found this info for the parade coordinator on the link, maybe you could call her to verify the route?

I do think coming from your direction if you just head toward the center of Matthews at Trade and E. John you won't miss a thing

I may just park at the finish and hike in. I'm sure the band director and the bus will figure out where the start is...

Smile parade route

My dancers ride the Town of Matthews Float every year.

Here is the part on the email i received which gives info to the Bands

For all: Walking Groups, Politicians, Bands, Cars, etc

Please have your groups there between 8:45am-9:00am. You can gain access from Trade Street and Matthews Mint Hill Road up until the road closes. If you are running late use Independence Pointe Parkway or Independence Blvd to get onto Matthews Mint Hill Road.

It sounds like Matthews Alive would be neat. -I just recently moved to Charlotte.- What do you guys suggest?

I was considering going to the parade here tomorrow or going to the one that is uptown (I believe on Monday). (I'm not located in Mathews tho).

We went last night (Friday). It was packed with cellphone-toting, loud, obnoxious teenagers. We got there at about 7:00pm. The arts and crafts vendors were still setting up and not selling their wares yet. (Unfortunately.)
The food was good and the lines weren't too long. However, the games/rides area was way too crowded, probably because it was wristband night.
If you want to see the parade, get there early and bring a beach chair or blanket to watch the bands on the main stage.

I'd consider going just to see the band SwampdaWamp. If you like the whole genre of music by the likes of Skynyrd, Molley Hatchet, The Allman Brothers, The Outlaws, and Marshall Tucker, then you'll like these guys.
