Totally impressed with area
Over the past two weeks, I have had three groups of old friends as guests at my new home in Cornelius. They were from Watertown, N.Y., San Diego, Ca., Duluth, Minn., Panama City, Fl. and Norfolk, Va. While here, I took them around Cornelius by land and boat, the kayak center, downtown, Southpark, Concord mills, UNCC, and many other spots. I can't express how much these people want to pack up immediately and move here. They were impressed with everything, restaurants, gorgeous houses, lakes, trees, entertainment, housing costs, taxes, and the list goes on. They all commented that Charlotte has to be the nations best kept secret. They never imagined it was the large, diverse, metropolis that it is. Fortunately the weather was great as well. They were here before and after the downpour. These were the attitudes that I like to see .

Wow - Bandi - you sound like a very good guide (and host!). Do you mind sharing some of the restaurants you went to? Did you go uptown? Where did you take them?
I think going out on the boat made it all very nice, too. You get a totally different perspective of the region from the water.
Think any of your friends really will end up relocating here??? Sounds like they are ready to head this way!

Hi Ani, for boating, I showed them the lake and the fascinating houses. Dining was nothing special as we ate at the Galway Hooker, Midtown Sundries, La Paz (Southend), Sangram's Indian, Cook House. For one evening we booked a hotel downtown and bar hopped. My mind went blank after 11:00 pm. I must have gotten hold of a bad drink. We shopped at South Park, Whitewater rafting center, Concord Mills and drove by the race track, etc. We also drove throught the hopefully up and coming NoDa, Baxter Village, Tega Cay. birkdale and other cool spots including UNCC. Everyone totally loves the Cook House. The quality and quanity of food there is quite a bargin. Unfortunately I usually have only a couple of days to entertain and can't do all I would like. I love company and usually drive everyone nuts wanting to do something all the time. My last friends that visited will likely move here when he retires from the navy in a couple of years. The others could, but are probably too lazy to sell their houses and go through the motions.

Our friends/relatives that have come to visit us since our move here feel similar. Infact my son and his family did follow us and moved here a few months ago. Most would love to move here but of course there are many reasons they can't---at least right now!!

That would be a job that I would truly cherish. I lived in London for many years and was a guide while there. It has always been fun showing off places. If I see such an ad in the paper, I am going to apply. LOL.

WOW, you definitely got them around town alot Bandi! Don't laugh...with all the relo's that have & are still moving into the area, it could be a great idea for a side job. You've been a guide already & obviously you enjoy doing it, sounds like a fit to me!
