Best place to have a baby? Choices are CMC uptown, or Presbyterian Womens Center in Charlotte
I have the choice of delivering nmy third baby at either: CMC in uptown Charlotte, or the newer Presbyterian Women's Center. Anyone who would like to share recent experience at either hosipital would be much appreciated. I am having a hard time choosing.

we just brought our son home yesterday, and while we weren't in uptown i would recommend presby cause if main is anything like huntersville then you wont regret it! have you taken a tour yet? we had a huge labor room that we stayed in afterwards and the staff was very helpful and friendly and all around awesome!
one other thing, my father in law is in hospital administration and while he doesnt live here he is familiar with both systems. from a admin stand point he told us we had made the right choice

Have you checked where your pediatrician has priviledges? That might make a difference to you.

I was born in CMC which was Memorial Hospital. I didn't have anything wrong with me, so I would go there. But, back then, I believe I probably cost only $40 or $50 dollars. Some might say that I wasn't worth it, but I wasn't dropped or anything, so I would go there. It is possible that my brain may have been deprived of a sufficient amount of oxygen. Just kidding! Tell the doctors that Bandibadji sent you.

CMC, because it is top notch
CMC...soley because it is a mojor teaching hospital and trauma center. If anything, God forbid, were to go even a little bit wrong, EVERYTHING and EVERYONE you would need, medically, would be right there.

We had our daughter at CMC main 2 months ago.... everyone was very friendly and professional. We had a good sized private room (I think they are all private). I am not sure how Presby does theirs, but I was happy with how they had there security systems in place so it is very difficult for you not to have the right baby. Main also has a very good level 4 nursery, which my pediatrican also recommended.
On a side note, my daughter was diagnosed this past Monday with Bacterial Meningitis, and between the Children's ER at CMC and the Levine Childrens Hospital there.... I would hate to think what condition my daughter would be in right now. Luckily is doing really well!
So, I am recommending CMC

I have had babies at both CMC and Presby Uptown. Both have Level IV NICU's, which is very important. I personally had a better experience at Presby (better help with nursing, better anesthesiologist), but both are great places to have a baby. Have you been on a tour of each? You really should, and then you can decide what you like best. Good luck!

We had our son at Presby Huntersville, and it was a great experience!
Something to consider - at Presby your baby stays in the room and not in the nursery (unless there are complications). I'm not 100% sure, but I think at CMC this is not the case. It might not sound like a big deal, but mothers often get big-time separation anxiety from their babies, so having your little one in the room with you at all times can be a huge relief.
