We will be moving to Ballantyne in the next 6 months and need to think about a pre school for my daughter. Can you recommend one that has a good reputation but may not be affiliated with a church? We are coming from Boston and we are Catholic - so we would consider a catholic pre school but really that would be it in terms of a religous affilation. Thanks for your help!

There are several Catholic churches somewhat convenient to Ballantyne, with St. Matthews right in the Ballantyne area. It doesn't appear to have preschool younger than TK, though. St. Gabriel, closer to uptown, looks like it starts in kindergarten. St. Vincent de Paul Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church / Pre-School has a 3-year-old program, but I don't have any experience with it. Also, be aware that many preschool programs have lengthy waiting lists that started back in January for the year. Best of luck!

Learning Links Academy is an excellent preschool near Ballantyne in the Blakeney area. They are pricey and there will be a waiting list....but they are an excellent pre-school with regards to academics, staff education, and security. They are not affiliated with a church.

i agree! awesome center---i toured as part of an interview for a summer position. i wish i could have worked there, but the position didn't work for my schedule. this is a real preschool---not a childcare center. it's half day. really great program.

i also like the goddard school. not love, but really like. gateway...depends on who your child's teacher is...but that really goes for any preschool. chesterbrook would be last on my list. an FYI about the childcare centers in ballantyne (and anywhere else really, but i know for sure in ballantyne) that people get fired from one and then go get hired at the next. i've seen it happen more than a few times and it makes me sick.

In Ballantyne you have Rainbow Station, Goddard School, Chesterbrook Academy, Kids R Kids, etc. The most wanted and ones w/ the longest lists tend to be the religious affiliated ones. There are no catholic preschools in Ballantyne though.

Default Cost?

I am just curious what does Preschool cost? For instance the nicer ones like Learning Links? I already looked up the private schools like Charlotte Latin. I don't think I will be spending that much on TK though!

Learning Links Pre-K and T-K 5 days a week 8:30-12:00 is $480/month. For 4 days it is $400. I'm not sure price of the younger kids with less days. I think registration fee is $50.

My daughter goes to a Pre-K four day a week program at a church and the tuition is $230/month.

Hi there,
Not sure where the information on Chesterbrook Academy came from.We moved to Charlotte last year and we looked at over 10 pre schools and i was very impressed with Goddard but it was more a day care and my daughter was already at 'school' before we moved so we opted for the Chesterbrook Academy. We have been very pleased with the school the teachers are great and the head is fantastic always ready to discuss any issues that may concern you.The start of this term has brought more children in and some have been moved from other local schools due to the parents being unhappy with them.I give this school in Ballantyne a big thumbs up!
