We might be looking at reslae homes now in Brandon Oaks or Lake Park....any advice? It ssems there are a mixture of old and new homes there.

Both neighborhoods are nice and have home plans I really like. Brandon Oaks is closer to Weddington though. Lake Park is a little isolated because it sits on the other side of hwy 74 from all the other desirable areas like Weddington and Waxhaw. But in a way, I like that better because it is not so congested. I guess time-wise Lake Park would be about 20 minutes to Weddington.

We visited BO extensively this past summer and are smitten. After being on these boards however, there are a few other areas we would like to check out as well. Brandon Oaks seems to be very big. I will add Lake Park to my list.

Default more questions..

So another 20 mins. to the airport then for lake park? We were going to be closer to monroe so maybe it is the same drive.

Are there a bunch of phases for Brandon Oaks? It seems some houses there are new for like $280 and then some were built in 1995 for $180? DOes that seem right? Is is one neighborhood?

If memory serves me, the newest area of Brandon Oaks is called something like the Gardens and they are higher priced.

Default brandon oaks

Yeah it seems weird to me to have the development be that old and still be building...I am assuming it is not the same builder.

BO has over a 1000 homes. It is a large development. There are homes that were built in 95 and in 95 a 180K for a house was a lot! Our house was built around 97 for 155K was the orig purchase price. The newer homes are bigger , yes but I am not fond of the lots...
BO has a parkway that runs through it (road) and then is sectioned off into "villages" each village is called something else.

I did some research re: Brandon Oaks. I found their community website on google. On the home page there is a posting about vandalism. Also, it seems there is an area of rundown houses near it. On the plus side - the community seems very active and has lots of group activities ie swim team, garden club, etc.

I really liked the Lake Park area when I visited. Very quiet area considering the size of the community.

There are Run down areas EVERYWHERE in Union county..this area is very rural. My mom lives in MD in a beautiful neighborhood with homes in the 500K plus and they have run down houses right outside of it. It is just a fact of life I think. Vandalism is not what you are thinking. We have had no problems with it. Mostly the type of vandalism it is ..are TEENAGER pranks...mailboxes etc..and it isnt' very common at all. Believe me it is a nice community. I think the problem with the internet is we research to death and mark things off because of something youread. Check things out with your own eyes. If you are coming from a big city the things that go on in Union county (our neck of the woods ) isn't really much.
