Apparently, this is the message that was given to patrons at the Hops restaurant on Independence last Sunday. The restaurant had police come in while management told customers they were closing down, pay your bill, and here's a to-go box.

Pretty classy!

Strange... but maybe this was the only chance the manager had to kick people out without worrying about yelp or urbanfood reviews.

Without knowing their side of the story, I'm not going to judge this. For all I know, the landlord told them to "get out now".

That said, the food and beer at this place wasn't that great.

I was surprised it stayed open for so long. It looked empty all the times I've seen it.

This story is one that makes you go hmmmm.

Seems like there is a back story that nobody is talking about.

Used to work at the Chick fil A next door. I remember when this store was built...

If by "didn't last" you mean "were open 16 years", then I agree with you.

The customers should not have even been required to pay after having their meal disrupted and basically thrown out of the place.

Ate there one time several years back and never returned.

Didn't see anything special about the place and the food was mediocre.

The one in pembroke pines was doing great last time I was there.... and I always enjoyed their food. Especially their pastry before every meal.

ETA: Yelp reports its closed... so maybe not.
