I agree that you should check out the Steele Creek area, or even Fort Mill. Depending on what type of home you are looking for, I live in a townhome in Ayrsley and it is right off of South Tryon and I-485. It is such a quick drive to and from the airport from here. My husband and I have noticed that it really is easy to get just about anywhere from this area. I'm not saying we don't get traffic - it is Charlotte, after all. But, overall it is far better than most areas, IMO.

If you are working near the airport why not travel against traffic. Coming from Mount Holly or Blemont would be about 15 minutes tops. Steele Creek is another great suggestion. Ballantyne is great and the commute could be rough but not unbearable.
