Time Warner Cable Internet Service
Has anyone had problems with unrelenting pop-ups and viruses? I am experiencing these issues like never before. I used to have Optimum online from cablevision and never had any of these issues. Now, I cannot seem to get through a short internet session without being attacked by viruses, pop-ups and hacker attempts.
Does anyone have any advice?

Make sure you get a router infront of your pc, never connect directly to the cable modem. Also AdAware is a good free product to clean your pc. I also noticed that IE version 7 does a pretty good job of blocking pop ups. Unfortunantley you may be infected already. I use Optimum right now and have not had issues with too many pop ups. I doubt that ISP is allowing that type of traffic on purpose.

I agree not your isp. You g0t infected with spyware it sounds like. Run adware and spybot. If the infection is not to bad those programs will get rid of it.

Run Adaware, Spybot and clean the system...then install Windows Defender. All 3 in conjunction should fix 99% of it.

Thanks for the input. I already have spybot and have Norton System Works installed on the computer. I guess if some of the other suggestions do not work, I will need to enlist the services of a computer professional - any reccomendations?

I have broadband DSL and I like it. You can choose the speed up to 6mbps and even that bundled with phone etc is less than cable! I found too I have less things invading my computer now.
