My husband used to have a pet chicken. His parents bought it to use for chicken dinner, but he and his brother and sister became so fond of it, they would not let his parents kill it. So they sold it to someone else. Her children were so fond of it and its cute ways that she had to come back and get another chicken. That chicken was still a pet. LOL
TheE, just wanted you to know you had me doing research to find out where your town is. Couldn't find it on C-D, so I googled it. LOL That's one for the stars, right?? I haven't done that much work since I retired.
We have 15 chickens and the eggs are fantastic! I would strongly suggest raising some for eggs. They are easy and feeding is simple. I also do not see the problem with keeping them. The taste of the eggs is worth a rooster crow.
