Default Mortgage Broker Profession in Charlotte/Mooresville areas

I figured I'd give a brief history on whats going on here. My wife and I lived in South FL, we relocated to Sherrills Ford, NC. Her job transferred her, however I am still stuck with my job in South FL. The pay for my line of work in NC really, well, sucks to be quite honest. I am looking for other means of work and considered this.

For those who might have insight, are mortgage brokers making decent cash up there? Is it hard to get your certifications up there?

Any insight would be appreciated!
