You know, the other thing to keep in mind is if something else was going on that led to this proactive police work. Maybe the officers saw some shady characters hanging out around the corner... Maybe there were some reports of car break-ins earlier in the night in the same neighborhood?
Based on the posts, the HPD was d@mned if they called and d@mned if they didn't. I'd personally err on the side of caution and be thankful for the call. If I'd have received the call, I'd be darn sure my cars were secured every night going forward.

I knew at one time the neighbors car was broken into and the Huntersville PD notified all the neighbors in that cul de sac. The cop probably shine his flashlight and saw that he did not get a glass reflection and investigated to see if it was broken into. It would just creep me out someone calling me to tell me their outside but so would a door bell ring etc.
I had a cop stop one last spring morning about 5:30 a.m asking if I was ok and did I need anything due to the time of the morning when I was just putting out yard sale signs.
I admire Huntersville proactive approach. In letting the citizens know they should be less keen on lazy criminal prone behaviors.
