Angry No gas in Lincolnton

I just drove all over Lincolnton in the middle of the night HOPING someone would have gas and I wouldn't have to wait in a line. Not only was there no gas to be found even at the big name stations(Texaco, Shell, etc) I also asked one attendant when the next gas delivery was coming in and she said she has NO IDEA. I drive for a living and have 2 transports next week and not even enough gas to GO to a gas station now! WHO is going to pay me for the work I may have to miss?

It's actually got worse in the last 24 hours here. Until yesterday, stations were getting gas off and on at least, even if they did run out within 4 hours of getting it. But a lot of those stations haven't received any new shipments since mid-afternoon yesterday or earlier. So today (Sat 9/27) a LOT more people were out driving around trying to find anyplace that had any.

There were even a few reports of people pulling out guns on those who they thought were "cutting in" at the station lines. One woman even showed up at a location station wearing a wedding dress, telling people she was late for her wedding and needed to get in front of the line ... they didn't let her cut in.

I'm afraid this is going to get a bit worse before it gets better. They were saying that it was going to ease up "in a few days" here... then that got stretched to "in about a week"... and just today on the local radio they were saying, "this could go on for more than a month".

SMART CAR, anyone?
A good strategy may be to find a station with gas, or that you've known to have received a shipment in the last day or so. Ask the manager or attendant about other stations they schedule deliver for. Often the attendant/mgr knows the delivery schedule for several other stations. At least that was my experience with the station in stallings off 485. The mgr there scheduled 4000 gallon delivers for several stations and also shared which stations wouldn't be in the loop.

May be worth a shot.

OK, someone's been pulling our leg here. I heard on both CNN and Fox that this gas shortage is not nearing an end. They are expecting it to continue at least until Columbus Day - Mid October!!

I know you all are grumbling about people topping off (which we haven't done) or filling gas cans (we already had 2 full in the garage when this started, haven't had to use them yet) but if I found quick and easy gas I might be tempted to fill a couple cans just so I don't have to drive around town looking for the 1 station that is open for every 15 that are closed.

I should run for transportation secretary I really think this is only viable option to solving this problem.

Have you found any gas yet? Let us know. I am very concerned for anyone depending on gas in order to do his/her job. Let us know what is happening.

Yeah, I am hearing that, too. In fact, I am hearing it could take a month. That is what they were saying on ATL stations when I was down there. I got back to CLT and thought . . . hmmmm. . . what is the real truth? Now I am hearing stuff on national stations . . . it is not so much me I am worried about. It is my DS who has to get to college and to internships (wh/ are part of his classes). This is a mess. He is freaked and so am I.

Where are the cops, firemen, city & county workers filling up? Do they have private reserves or are they going to designated stations?

I had about quarter of tank in my car and I know I can drive least a good two hours on a quarter of tank if I dont use a/c but my partner insisted I find gas and I found several stations in Cherryville that had it for those in need near Lincolnton. I however made mistake and look at the Murphy USA and saw that there was cars there but I needed to reload my gift card so I can get that 3 cent off a gallon discount but when I went back to that station they was out.... Walmart has clout there stations will be filled Im sure so I would try there if you are still hunting.

Well, I saw a vid clip on one of the local stations - showing CMPD filling up at a station just like everyone else. ????
