No gas along South Blvd or Tyvola.

I did find some at the Shell station accross from UNC Charlotte on University City Blvd. Regular only. $3.99/gallon. No line (as of 9am)

Is the issue worse in UC as opposed to Meck or Cabarrus?

And are there places in UC worse than other areas of UC?

I only inquire because I would call the situation dire in Monroe, and we seem to have be hit early on. However, our cousin in Kannapolis initially seemed oblivious to the whole thing! And she insists that she is not having the same trouble finding gas! I can't tell whether she is full of crap or not.

I've been home about 15 mins and the first four gas stations I hit on 200 are without gas. I noted that one station on N. Charlotte (yikes, I think that is the name of the street) and one on the corner of Dickerson both have gas but they also both have extensive lines interferring with the regular flow of traffic and law enforcement overseeing the situation.

If any of you are familiar with Daymark (right alongside DSS in Monroe), I work there periodically. A lot of employees come from Meck. I will admit that the facility is not efficiently run on a regular basis (we're talking county mental health here) but, for several days our waiting room has been packed due to employees calling out because of their inability to get adequate supplies of gas. Granted, while some people may be full of it, I don't know that everyone can be. I am fortunate enough to live very nearby, no real commute to speak of.

We're losing patients to the E/R, which is not the way a community wants to handle people in serious need of mental health services. And worse than losing them to the E/R? Losing them to the streets.

So, who can weigh in?

Sara

I can weigh in about Kannapolis, It has been very difficult to get fuel up here for about a week or week and a half, and when one station has it the line stretches a mile down the road. I got lucky the other day, I live pretty close to the Exxon in Jackson Park area, and I saw the truck pull in and I was able to get gas without the wait.

Overall it's been a real mess, does anyone know when we're supposed to see some relief?

From what I read here and see in UC it is no better in UC. I'm not sure it is any worse either....other than we probably don't have the same concentration of gas stations. When we were out the other day it was 2 in 15 stations had any gas at all.

Read yesterday that the pipeline flows from the Texas refineries are back to normal capacity now. Unfortunately, it will take a week or two for the fuel flow to make the trek and be delivered to neighborhood service stations. They're calling for normalcy (pre-Hurricane Ike conditions) by Columbus Day.

I found gas in uptown yesterday, I used this map and called ahead, worked well. I also have friends in tega Cay saying there is no issue.
