Question Dilworth

I'm currently visiting the Charlotte area for a couple of job interviews. I'm pretty sure that I will get the offer from at least one of them therefore I'm trying to decided where I want to live in the area. I'm a very young just beginning professional and from what I hear, Dilworth is the place to be. I wanted to be in an area where I could meet a lot of people for networking and just for hanging out and such. Well, I was walking/driving around the Dilworth area and all I could see were just homes. What do you guys recommend? Should I rent/buy one of these homes, or what apartments are available in the area? I was also on Rent.com and the Salem Village apartments and Camden Grandview apartments look really impressive. Although I'm not sure many young people could afford to live in the Grandview with prices like that! lol

Anyway, if you guys were in the position that I am, what would be your choice? Or do you think that maybe uptown would be the best for my situation? Thanks!

Well congrats on the potential new job in Charlotte Uptown is considered a very desirable place to live by the young single or no-kid crowd. Dilworth is just at the edge of uptown, so it is very close. Either would be good locations for you. I'd say you want to plan to rent for a while to get a feel for where "your" niche is. You need to post how much you want to pay in rent, that will help people make suggestions for you.

Well, I'll probably be making around $50,000 per/yr. from what my recruiter has been telling me. Which I guess is not bad considering I'm entry level. I'll pay max. of $1000/month give or take a few.

P.S.: I also have two interviews tomorrow (Beacon Meadas and Duke Energy), so if I can get those offers and I can get the best offer out of the three companies (aka more money ) than I can afford a little more rent. haha

The first time I drove through Dilworth I had the same thought. I saw only houses. Someone had told me about Camden Dilworth so I went and looked there (it's in between Kennilworth and Scott). Besides that I didn't see much going on.
After I moved to South Park and went down East Blvd..I started to see what everyone was talking about. Restaurants, coffee shops, a supermarket, bars. The key is to be going down East to "see" everything that is there. I agree with 510% with Loves. Rent first! Both areas have their appeal and it comes down to personal preference. And you won't know that until you are living here for a bit.
