Well, who knew. I thought we had seen the last of the big deals since Morgan Stanley pulled out . . . but breaking news . . . Wachovia and Citigroup in talks.

Seems like this would be one where citi merges with wach vs. the recent deals for wach where they merge another entity into the company. that would be interesting, but wouldn't this also be subject to the same regulatory restrictions that a possible chase and wach merger would face.
but the "rise of the rest" is something that will affect us all
it's important to note how quickly countries like China, Russia, and India are growing- unprecidented rates beyond that of any US growth since the end of the 2nd World War, if not even greater
the world's wealth is shifting- soft power- although still not as strong as US and clearly hard power not as strong as US- is shifting- the earth as we know it will not be the same as we gradually shift back from a unipolar world not to a bi polar world, but to a multi-polar world
look bottom line, there is money in the world, but it's not in the United States, I wouldn't be surprise if a bank like HSBC already with a US presence decided to come in and pick up something like Wachovia- it's all relative really
