This was already posted in the official death watch thread by Ani, but it's a fluid situation, as they are keeping their investment advisor division?

Will Citi move its HQ to Clt.?
Now that Citigroup has acquired Wachovia, is there a chance that it will move its HQ from NY to Clt.? Many people have raised the issue of Charlotte's lower costs of living.

Who has the bigger infrastructure to handle the headquarters? Was not Wachovia building another building here.

Citigroup is about 10 times the size of the former Wachovia I believe.....
Tough times ahead for our region....again, be thankful if you are employed and have a large emergency fund...

I think the gov forced this sale so as not to have to deal with their bad debt.

I didn't see this post and I posted too. Sorry!!!
This could be tragic for Charlotte because Citigroup doesn't need two headquaters. There was talk a while back about charlotte possibly loosing wachovia. SO, it's true now. It's kinda sad.
My question is this - will citigroup bring back the jobs that were 'offshored' under K Thompson?

An article from The Charlotte Observer
Citigroup aquiring Wachovia banking operations (broken link)
As NC native I feel a little sad. Wachovia started in the late 1800s in what is now Winston-Salem. Wachovia was the name Moravian settlers called the 100,000 acres they purchased in 1753.
