I think htis illustrates (sp?) something about Popeye's. Though their chicken can be good, it is inconsistent from store to store. Whether you like KFC, Bojangles, or Church's one thing you can say is the chicken is the same no matter where you go. Now the sweet tea, that's another story entirely.

I disagree... I've had bad KFC, dry and over cooked and sometimes they run out of chicken. I don't know how you run out of original chicken but I've heard it more than once...

Church's is nasty IMO and Bojangles isn't much better. I like my chicken cooked hard and Bojangles is a little rubbery to me.

I've only had Popeyes a few times because but I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was.

Restaraunts have a hard enough time being consistent on their own, much less across the whole chain. I can only think of a couple places where the food has been consistent everytime I have gone there.

I lived in Canterbury Woods, and worked at Old Hickory House for a year in 81-82. I rode my bike to the malls at Eastway and at Sugar Creek. I don't remember the Popeye's but then again it wouldn't have had any significance to me.

Poeyese was there around 88-89. It wasnt at the corner of sugar creek and tryon but a block up towards downtown on tryon. Remember Quincys?

I'm not saying that none of these places ever have a bad batch of chicken. I'm saying in general the chicken tastes the same from one place to another. Where as Popeye's chicken can vary in flavor from one restaraunt to another.

Silly me, I load the address into my phone gps as soon as I see the post, and then don't revisit the post to see if anyone had been there. Went for a wild chicken chase tonight, and found the address, it seems to be a field near the school. Well, it's not like gas is expensive or anything...lesson learned.

There is a Popeye's at a travel plaza between Greensboro and Burlington on I-40/85. Also some locations east of Raleigh, and one down in Columbia, SC. Also in Atlanta area and northern Virginia, Maryland. Would like to see them in Charlotte and Greenville-Spartanburg, but probably won't happen because of Bojangle's. Also would like to see Roy Rogers come here. Great roast beef, burgers, and fried chicken.

I remember Quincy's, and I think the building is still there. But Sugar Creek was my self imposed boundary back then, and I was gone from there by '83 anyway.

Do they still have that small Bojangles on Freedom Drive? It originally was a Popeyes.
