Glad to hear that location is opening up. But still would be nice if they would open a few freestanding stores.

^It's probably a tough decision for a franchisee to make considering their stores were not supported by customers last time they had free standing stores in Charlotte.

If I eat take out chicken, it's going to be Kentucky Fried Chicken. None of these other chains have come up with something that beats them for taste, IMO. I do like chicken from one of the old Piggly Wiggly deli's where they still fry the chicken in lard, but unfortunately there are none of these in this area.

KFC is very good, but some of their combo stores combined with Taco Bell and such do not have as good of quality control as some of their original locations. But for spicy, crispy chicken, Popeyes can't be beat, and has a loyal following in many major metro areas. Better than Bojangles. There are many newcomers to the Charlotte region that miss Popeyes and would now like to see them have more of a presence here. I think they would do better now if they were to make a return to the market. But at least there is now Concord Mills and Winthrop.

KFC and Popeyes/Bojangles are two totally different tastes..

Not saying 1 is better than others, just different

Yea, KFC and Popeyes are different, and a more similar comparison would be Popeyes and Bojangles who feature spicy chicken. And while Bojangles has good breakfast biscuits, I think the chicken at Popeyes is a bit better.

I am sure that someone mentioned that Charlotte is home to Bojangles. The first Bojangles was located in Southend where Vennies is now located or very close anyway. On a personal note, if I have to eat take out or fast food restaurant fried chicken, it is going to be Bojangles because I personally find Popeyes to be like Churches which isn't very good in my humble opinion. I am glad that there is one being built as everyone should be happy.

Wow - went to Concord Mills today and Popeyes was hopping. It was 2:30 ( sort of late for lunch to me) and there were about 25 people in line. Must be a lot of folks who miss Popeyes.

It was on West Blvd and S. Tryon many many years before Southend was known as Southend. There is a Bojangles there now, but it's not the original building. Shortly after this one opened there was another one at Eastway & North Tryon back when that part of Charlotte was still a middle class area, and there was a 3rd one, but I don't remember where it was located.
