A lot of NC Jack in the Box's have closed, now. Roy Rogers has VA locations in the D.C. metro. I would still place that in the North.

Jack in the Box has closed some underperforming stores in recent years. But they still have a presence in the Charlotte market, as well as Greenville-Spartanburg, SC. And Roy Rogers is looking to expand again after rebuilding from a failed Hardee's merger. And I always thought Virginia was a Southern state.

Also endlessly googled it and found nada. Was it a Popeyes oasis or is there actually a new one out there somewhere?? Sorry if this has been covered recently, but I wasnt about to read a 20+ page thread about chicken! LOL
Don't think it was there when this was first posted, but there is a regular one on Cherry Rd. in Rock Hill just off 77 now (although I still prefer Shrimp Boat if in that area).

no seafood yet, just chicken. but at least Charlotte officially has a Popeye's.

According to the Observer, the new Popeyes has been very popular and created a traffic jam on Wilkinson Blvd. Extra cops were hired to direct traffic, and lines were out the door and around the building.

I too am surprised at the overhyped re-coming of Popeyes. It's good chicken but it isn't much different than Bojangles...not enough to make me drive out of the way, maybe the red beans and rice but that's about it. However, there are certain items at Bojangles I prefer like the dirty rice, seasoned fries, etc....glad when the hype subsides but always good to have other options in the area.

I wish the Colonel (KFC) would make a comeback on quality....seemed to have lost their swagger on quality over the years. Popeyes is the most consistent of the bunch and Bojangles is hit or miss on chicken quality but I've definitely had Bojangles chicken that was as good or better than Popeyes. After living in the DC area for years, there are certain Popeye locations I would dare not venture in again....awful service, quality, etc.

Looks like Popeyes is opening a location off of South Boulevard, in the Carolina Pavilion Shopping Center:

I still need to get over there and pick up some biscuits and red beans and rice. I am heading to Concord on Friday, maybe I will stop by one on the way home.
