Default Pirates Fans in Charlotte?

I saw the Phillies thread, and being a diehard Pirates fan, I thought I'd represent the western half of Pennsylvania.

Any Pirates fans out there? I've been to the Fox & the Hound off I-77 Exit 18, and was pleasantly surprised to find a dedicated room to the STeelers. Same goes with the Dilworth Grill, and of course Dixie's.

But being a Pirates fan is an entirely different ball of wax altogether. There are many, many Steelers fans in the world, but much fewer Pirates fans. And though I am a big Steelers fan, I am an even bigger fan of my Buccos... umpteen losing seasons and all...

Just thought I'd put that out there. The Kannapolis Intimidators play the Hickory Crawdads... and Big Country is the first baseman for the Charlotte Knights. Attended a game earlier in the year.

In lieu of a Pirates appearance in the playoffs (my lifetime again, please Nuttings?), I will insert a Go Phillies here, despite our natural rivalry. A Devil Rays-Phillies World Series would be just fine with me.

The only downfall for Pirate fans in this area is that the Crawdads are no longer affiliated with them. The Pirates left to take over the old Brewers affiliation with the West Virginia Power, and even though they're still in the SAL, it's not as local. The Hickory club will be affiliated with the Rangers.

Speaking as someone who's liked the Rays since day 1 and who grew up in an area with a Pirates affiliate, I salute you for your suffering.

Ah! Bummer... Didn't know that. Hmmm... so, perhaps a local set of games with WVP as opposed to frequent match-ups? Still learning the minor league system. In NYC, I'd go to Shea. Actually much prefer the Knights game experience. Right up close and personal. And cheaper beer.

Go Rays!
