I think those numbers would overly represent

1. people who use Turbotax: probably not the richest nor the poorest of citizens.

2. people who make enough to itemize their deductions.

3. people whose church encourages them to contribute heavily (i.e. tithing)

I can tell you that is wrong. We're a bunch of cheapos down here. In this case its definitely the rich folk and businesses who itemize, especially all the perfectly good stuff they dont use anymore and give to charity.
