I doubt any lessons have been learn but the next before they shut things down how about filling some tankers up bargs etc out of harms way so we could use those while things are down.

Im not keen on oil rigs being built off our coast in the graveyard of atlantic and have a strong filling it going to uphold it name but if we are going to go ahead do that then build a refinery in one of the remote areas in eastern NC. The economy is really poor in that area and could use a boost.

Ok I got my rant out it is ovious I havent had dinner....
Sunny - You're a genius! This is how we should pick our next governor! Whoever can drive the most tankers into the Charlotte area in a 24 hour period gets the job. At least we'd have two politicians that are actually doing something useful!

Thanks everybody. I finally filled up at the gas station next to the post office on Gilead Rd. Think it was a shell. They had just 2 of the pumps on, but had all grades. Not much wait either, but it was also the middle of the day. But I still see too many pumps with 'out of service' bags.... so can't feel at ease yet.
Well, I hope this situation remedies soon! I am soooo tired of thinking twice before I go anyplace...

Haven't read the rest of this thread but here it is Monday Oct 6 and we are still having trouble finding 93 octane. Lots of stations have regular only.

FWIW, I filled up with regular gas at the Exxon Station at the intersection of Woodlawn/Park. I paid $3.69/gallon.

I had to go into Monroe today and saw two tankers filling stations between Monroe and Waxhaw along Hwy 75. Maybe we're catching back up?

While I was driving through Waco, TX yesterday there were several stations that had reg unleaded for $2.95 or less. I wish the prices in CLT would get there by this weekend, although it won't happen.

My husband just filled up his car around 6 pm this evening at the Circle-K on Prosperity Church and DeArmon. They had all grades 3.49 regular, 3.59 and premium for 3.71.
He said they had an employee hand out numbers to people as they arrived, and so though there were waaaay many people, it went smoothly and efficiently. Hope this info is of help to someone.
