I485 only barely skirts the western edge of Union county (to clarify, it is in Mecklenburg county though). If you get off on hwy 74/Independence Blvd you'll head toward Monroe, the biggest city in the county. But for a less congested ride exit 485 at Matthews and take a left. This is Old Charlotte Hwy and will paralell hwy 74. It is more scenic and you will see some of the neighborhoods talked about here like Brandon Oaks.

If you stay on this road you will eventually come to the city of Monroe (about 20 minutes from 485 if it's not a workday). There's a quaint little downtown with a courthouse and stuff. From there you can take hwy 84 to Wesley Chapel or Hwy 75 to Waxhaw. See Wesley Chapel for neighborhoods, don't miss Waxhaw for it's scenic little downtown. Take hwy 16 (Providence Road) where it begins in Waxhaw to find Marvyn and Weddington. There is tons of new retail going up on Rea Road, which you can find when you are on Providence. Have a good drive!

CHARLOTTEVANGELIST is on a distinguished road
Default Union County

HWY 601 (take it south of Concord) meets US74 in Monroe. I485 is in Meck count. HWy 16 is Providence Rd and ends in Waxhaw. As to attractions. Golf, few parks, Cane Creek, Charlotte's Balantyne is on the edge of the county and has wonderful shopping. As to homes. It will depend on the price. Many choices even with the moratorium on building.

PM me if you want specifics on homes/neighborhoods.
