2 or 3 inches (even 5 or 6) would be lovely! Having survived 36 inch storms in the Poconos when my power and water went out, I could do a little 6 inch storm standing on my head! Bring on the white stuff!!!!

Here are some links . . .

This one gives info on the 1960 blizzard and continuing storms . . . the region in that storm included areas down to Meck:

http://www.easternsnow.org/proceedin...and_konrad.pdf

Here is info on the 2000 ice storm, wh/ I think many have forgotten!!!!

FEMA: North CarolinaÂ*Winter Storm

And 2002 ice storm, wh/ I think maybe many of you were not here for:

FEMA: North CarolinaÂ*Severe Ice Storm

Now, for the 1993 storm . . . have not found a link yet . . .

Just moved here from Canada where I left 4 ft snow banks in late March, I would LOVE to see it. Yep a winter freak. But your not the only one. I have a friend who is all into the weather models and stuff and he swears by it.

Give me a 12-to-18 inch storm per month until boating season gets here again. Gotta have something to keep my mind off of boats until then.

I was here for the 4 storms listed above. Some pretty good ones, especially 2000. I remember a lot of trees being down. If we get ice storms, I'll be making some serious money off of them. Just gotta be able to tolerate a little cool weather.

Just out of curiosity, when the nor'easters come up the coast, do they include the Charlotte area?

The Philadelphia meteorologists track them from NC north. They refer to the mountains, but do they get east to the Charlotte area?

Did Charlotte share in the blizzard of '96?

Oh dear. We are travelling back to Charlotte at the end of October. I hope there isn't ice.

Gosh, I just found this old vid from 1987 - after a snow - looks like maybe 7" or so - wh/ shows what CLT looked like 21 years ago! Notice how nasty the streets look . . . and you can imagine my wonderment when I woke up in a Kansas City suburb after a 13 in. snow - and all the streets were cleared, LOL. Charlotte had even less snow clearing equipment in '87 than we do now . . . You won't recognize CLT's skyline - there wasn't one, really! And note the construction going on . . . A neat little trek down memory lane for some and perhaps a bit of history to see what CLT was like 20 plus years ago, for newcomers:

Nor'easters, YES

Mountains - does not always include CLT

Blizzard of 96 - wasn't here but FEMA records indicate NC was declared a disaster . . . my memory is that my parents (in Salisbury at that time) got ice and were w/o power at least five days.

That would be most unlikely. Possibly in the mountains, but even that would not be typical.
