I have a strong kind of hunch that this is going to be the winter we are going to get significant accumulation of snow.

The weather pattern of this year except for June has been typical and generally match averages for this area.

I have a strong hunch that late October we will have our first freeze and like in the past our biggest snow will be in the middle of January.

Think it will happen?

My husband said the same thing! I wonder if it was just wishful thinking. He's a Yank

I saw a sign for firewood off Kerns Road off of Hambright about half mile from the stop sign before you reach that restored house on the right heading south.

ok for this area it generally no more than 2 inches to me significant is 6 to 8 or higher oh I remember the day we use to build forts in this area due to so much snow.

btw if you dont want to drive in it CATS will still run just not in the neighborhoods.

I think we are in for a severe winter - maybe not here as much as in our mountains. I am trying to get my son prepared for what I am worried about - blizzards and really really bad weather in Boone and surrounding area.

Well, let's see . . . define "significant accumulation" - let me find you links to 1960, LOL. And maybe - March, 1993.

Oh I hope not! This will be our first winter here - I am looking forward to hearing about all of the snow that I WON'T be shoveling back in NY!

can I have my cake and eat it too?

I want a healthy snowstorm, but not enough where it cuts the power off in my house or makes the roads impassible for a period of time....
