I see your point just I feel like I have to be in higher income bracket to enjoy seafood and it even worst at the coast
I can only assume the distributor to restaurants like GW fins is charging an exuberant price but the clientele that restaurant once sought disappeared

In general, I agree, seafood is expensive. Once in a blue moon I will treat myself at a restaurant. Less often though these days......
I also only like several types of seafood (ie flounder, mussels, tilapia, sea bass, scallops, clams, shrimp). I WILL buy seafood on sale at HT or Lowe's, only after I inspect it to make sure its fresh. Nothing worse to me than eating bad fish. I've gotten mussels at HT for 3.99/2 lb bag every so often which is a pretty good deal...
sorry for going OT, just my opinion...

I guess a lot of restaurants are going to suffer and many will go out of business if people are cutting back. After all, the easiest thing to save money on is eating out (if one has been regularly dining out instead of cooking).
Plus - let's not forget business entertainment. That is also being curtailed - or at least - diminished. Restaurants all over the country are struggling - not just here in CLT.
Several big names have gone out of business or were bought up recently. I know Darden bought the parent company of Capitol Grille and LongHorn Steakhouse in late 2007, I think. Has anyone mentioned Bennigan's closing this summer? They closed all the company-owned locations, but I am not sure about the franchise locations. I was so surprised about that . . .

Goody's Clothing
Yet another one. They closed their Matthews and Pineville stores a while back. Now the rest are going too.
Goody's retailer files bankruptcy, will liquidate

The rercord store was Sam Goody's, but I think all of them are gone now, or changed to FYE stores in the malls. The "store locator" at samgoody.com gives you a "file not found" when you click it.

And people want more retail uptown but yet what is there not even surviving.
They want the concept but not willing to support it.
I love overstreet mall I cross whoopi goldberg path when she was filming that basketball movie here.
Looks like this year is going to shape the survival of the fittest

I've never heard of Overstreet mall. I guess it's downtown? (maybe even over a street?) What kind of stores are in it. I would like to go and meet my husband for lunch sometimes and there is just not much to do afterwards.
