The same holds true for here in Albemarle, Stanly county area! We usually drive around the main town to get to places but the other day we drove through town, the first time in a few months and it was so sad. So many stores are closing. Stores that have been here for awhile. The town is starting to look like a ghost town! Well at least the older part of town is. I wonder what all these people are going to do now? I sure hope it turns around soon.

I hope it turns around soon, too. Just think - this is going on all over the nation. Very upsetting.

Yes, yes it is. The more upsetting part of this is I really don't know if Charlotte will learn from this lesson. I saw US Airways hawking credit cards at Charlotte-Douglas International back in November. Didn't that get us into trouble in the first place?
To quote the Rolling Stones, "you can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes you might find you get what you need."

Did I hear correctly? The Good Ol Days Diner? wow
This is sad. I know from reading theses boards it, it seems it didn't get much good feedback on the food, at least I can remember.
I was there twice to eat ( lunch) I don't recall it being bad at all. I just never really thought of going there.
But what is really, really sad is that this guy seemed to be a big part of the community(i.e. he was know as "The Jewish Santa")

What did you hear about Good Ol Days? I was just at the Arboretum an hour ago and they were open.

I wonder how things are in The Fountains? I went in to those two clothing stores the other day and a single t-shirt was $88 ...cannot imagine they can stay open???

Sunny, I think there are still a Harris Teeter or two open (or 89).
I know it's not a funny situation, but I couldn't help it. Their expansion strategies crack me up. I've started measuring distance in terms of how many Teeters I pass to go certain places.
Here's hoping for a better 2009 and 2010!

The number of HT's are crazy...the sad thing is they are all just the same...LOL. Also, what is up w/ the massive number of CVS's popping up all over!!
