Sure. 35 degree early mornings what are they suppose to wear...pajamas??
In fact I've heard of some upper class ladies that have decided to wear their jewlery with the furs before they need to share with the less fortunate when the country goes under a "change."

My mother and grandmother used to wear fur through the winter here in the area.
My wife would not wear one (thank goodness since they are so expensive)

Since this whole economic situation reminds me of the same thing that happned back at the beginning of the 90's, I was betting some family members that we'd see the same thing happen where there'd be a whole bunch of business closings.

I was betting that we'll see a reduction of the number of consumer electronics stores and home improvement stores. Seems I'm not too far off, as Circuit City announced that it's closing stores. I'm betting that HH Gregg will do the same, and in the end only Best Buy will remain.

I'm also betting that either Lowe's or Home Depot will go out of business. My gut feeling is that Lowe's will remain.

I bet HH Gregg eats it within 8 months. Commission sales of electronics is going the way of the dinosaur, people don't like to feel pressured and alot of consumers know more than the sales people. I tried HH Gregg once and never again.

I'm thinking the same thing, only I think HD or Lowes will have either one or the other in most places. HD is a bigger company than Lowes, even though Lowes is more popular around here. I bet HD is gone around here (even though I prefer them).

Home Depot or Lowe's going out of business??? Don't think that's going to happen. Or if it does, we will really be in trouble.

Cowboy, with all due respect this is not a partisan issue.

This is not a political issue since Mom and Pop stores are going to continue to struggle here in Charlotte and everywhere else regardless what candidate is elected tomorrow. Fact is, Walmart killed the Mom and Pops...because they were able to bulk distribute in ways small businesses cannot.

For the record, Mom and Pop shops have been struggling since Walmart and other big box stores started homogenizing the country...you can't blame Obama for that anymore than you can blame the Bush administration. The Bush tax cuts didn't prevent it from happening. Also, most new businesses don't earn enough to have their taxes increased under Obama's tax proposal nor are they wealthy enough to benefit from McCain's proposal - so that is pretty well status quo.

Good thing Walmart has paint guns (kidding... mostly)

You know, in the long run it is probably a good thing that the big chain stores are closing some locations. They had really overgrown their usefulness. And remember contraction and expansion are cyclical. Every thing that goes away, clears room for all sorts of possibilities. The world is not coming to an end...we are just pruning the garden for future growth.

It was the beginning of the end for CC when they started getting rid of their experienced people to save money. I like Best Buy because although most of the employees (including Geek Squad) know jack, they have decent prices and leave you alone when you are shopping.

My thoughts exactly. I'll admit I quit buying from CC when I found out how they treated thier salespeople. I knew it was only a matter of time before they went under. When you take away experienced salespeople and good service the only chip you have left to play is low price and competing on price alone is difficult with retailers such as WM and BB in the market.
