As far as I know , it was a lease/landlord thing, nothing more. There is another Carmella's in Fort Mill, just over the state line. Not far at all, we go quite often.
Vinnie's had really gone downhill in the past few years (Matthews location, I never go to the South Blvd. spot). It was one of those places where you felt like you were an uninvited crasher at someone's party. The regulars just made you feel unwelcome. And the food was becoming an afterthought.

Given their sanitation scores, apparently cleanliness was an afterthought as well. That place was always packed everytime I went by, though.
The Graduate on 51(the owners that bought it out early 2010 were complete idiots)
Eddie's Place on Johnston Rd. (landord issue)
The old Hickory Tavern on Carmel...something to do with Golf...heard that was closing as well..
Pie Town on Trade St. closed but there is now an Italian restaurant there owned by the same group. 3 places in 4 years have been there but I guess they keep trying.

I always thought Town that was there prior to Pie Town was good for lunch, but at dinner I heard it was more like a la carte and odd foods. They should have stuck with the lunch format all day and I think they would have done well.
Cardillos is closing tomorrow....the ladies want to retire. Sad.
oh darn. I was in there about a month ago and enjoyed it.
