I think that Melting Pot is in the process of moving to Huntersville. Their sign just went up on the former Fudruckers at exit 25.

The Melting Pot is simply moving to Huntersville. I'm in their email club and received a message about a month ago. Makes sense, as the University area has gotten pretty run-down and shady.

The Creole restaurant next to Big/Bad Daddy's in Ballantyne closed. Not sure when that happened. It was good but overpriced in my opinion.

Ballantyne is horrible for sustaining restaurants. I don't know why given the disposable income in the area, but most restaurants in that part of town fail.

Creoles has been closed for quite a few months.

To Chris's point; I think it is because there are so many restaurants in such a relatively small area. One could eat in a different place every night in Ballantyne and not eat in the same place for over a month.

I think a big part of the problem with keeping restaurants in the Ballantyne area is due to the economy. Ballantyne is a big business park, and restaurants in business areas depend a lot on business lunches, where the diners are on expense accounts. With a down economy, a lot of those business lunches don't happen anymore. I remember the Ballantyne Resort had to rebrand itself as the Ballantyne Hotel because it was a problem for some business travellers to put in an expense report for a "resort".

Ballantyne is one great big spread out mall. Only chains survive in malls. It reminds me of Epcot.

Uhhh, there are plenty of non-chain restaurants in that area that do quite well. A couple locations does not a chain make. I think Creoles failed just because it sucked but it was also in the worst position in the place. You would barely know it was there without already knowing it was there. Doesn't get much passby traffic.

Zapata's, Big Daddy's, Villa Antonio, Jade, etc.
