Lantus for my Mother in Charlotte
Hello! My Mother has type 2 diabetes. She is from Russia, and she is visiting us in Charlotte. She will stay with us until end of November. I have ordered lantus from Canada in Canadian Pharmacy, Canada Pharmacy Online Prescription Drugs but we did not received package yet (I have ordered it more than one week. They said there are some problems in customs). My Mom does not have US health insurance, and she has only Lantus prescription from Russia. Can somebody here sell lantus to us. She needs 5x3ml penfill for Optipen? How can we get lantus in this situation?
Thank you!

I don't know if any pharmacies will honor your mother's Lantus prescription, especially if it is written in Russian and not English. Why not call your local pharmacy and see what they say?

Unfortunately, North Carolina requires prescription for lantus. Local pharmacy will not sell it.

I gather that your mom will run out of Lantus while she is here visiting then?
Could you take her to your doctor when she gets here? Or maybe call your doctor and ask him what to do? Another option might be to take her to an urgent care center to see if they will prescribe it for her. I'm not sure if that will work or not, but it is worth calling or visiting to find out.
Good luck!

You might check with the Health Department, as well. Perhaps someone will be able to write a script since she is in a difficult situation and has no health insurance.

Sounds like you need to bite the bullet and spend the money to go to a local doctor for a current prescription. You could go to an urgent care clinic (they are located all over town) without an appt for this. The cost would probably be around $100 dollars or so, but then she could have what she needs, which is very important in dealing with diabetes.

Yes, she arrived in June, and she has lantus for 4 months. Canada sells lantus without prescription, so I have ordered it, but, you see, for unknown reasons it does not work.
About doctor and urgent care center are an interesting ideas, we should try. Thank you.

It has less to do with the Rx being written in Russian and more to do with it being from another country. Without a DEA number you aren't going to get that Rx filled in America.

Tell us what part of town you are in, maybe we can suggest an urgent care clinic nearby

I am in University Area (28262). But because she does not have health insurance, I think they will asked her to visit doctor and many different tests, so it will not be "be around $100 dollars or so". It will be around $1000.
