Hello!

I usually don't count my eggs before they've hatched, but since this may happen within two weeks' time...

There is a chance I may have an internship in Charlotte for two months. I've never been to NC, have no friends or family there, and have little money saved. But this is a grand opportunity for me. I do want to experience life there from the perspective of someone who may want to relocate there.

What's there to do in/around Charlotte (preferably within 1.5 hours of Charlotte) for a single mid-twenties woman? Are there lots of festivals or events hosted by the city? Is there a big music scene, do people like to be active? Is public transportation fairly good?

Does anyone have any suggestions on where I could stay for two months? I've never gotten the opportunity to travel for this long, so hotels have always been my go-to, but that will get expensive over the course of two months.

Thanks much for your help!

There are fairs/festivals/events in the city of Charlotte & in the surrounding towns/cities. Giving a more specific answer is difficult without knowing your interests.

If you know what part of Charlotte, or a surrounding town you would be having the internship in, you'll get better help for housing.

Oh, & what genre of music?

Thanks for your reply!

I've not received an address or part of town yet. I like folk, indie, country, pop sometimes, world, classic, rock, oldies, jazz, blues, bluegrass... mostly anything except metal or new rap. It's just not something I have a preference for.

I like just about anything that would be outdoors and open to the public.

The living quarters particularly has me concerned. I know without an approximate neighborhood, it's difficult to provide suggestions, but does anyone have any suggestions as to what kinds of temporary housing I could look at that would be cost effective (i.e. does Charlotte have a sizeable community that rents out guest quarters, or are hostels common)?

I'm looking for any sort of direction that could get me going on the right path. Any help is appreciated.

Scratch all this. I won't be going to Charlotte. Completely different city instead. And I don't quite know how to delete threads..
