Lets use this thread to post updates that you have seen or heard of in or near Berewick. Ill start things off.

- Next to Bynum's general store (near the intersection of 160 and I-485)there is a sign for a Bloom grocery store and across the street they are developing the land for an Exxon/ On the Run.

- At the Shopton and Steele Creek Rd intersection DR Horton has signs up for townhomes starting in the $160,000's. I guess this isn't really new news.

-Bella Serra has started building their Villas behind the basketball courts.

Good topic, I just moved into the neighborhood and am very curious... I had thought that development would have been a bit quicker when we originally signed a contract last spring.

Not very news worthy but I've heard that KB might be backing out of the villages of aberdeen which is the section right near the traffic circle.

Anyone else have anything more interesting to share?

Default Berewick Schools.

I also heard that when Berewick first opened in the s/s 2005 their schools were:
  • Steele Creek Elementary or Lake Wylie Elementary
  • Southwest Middle
  • Olympic High

And CMS rezoned the area and now go to
  • Berryhill Elementary
  • Wilson Middle
  • West Mecklenburg

I could be wrong but I remember that when they first opened they were not zoned to Berryhill. Also some subdivisions in the Steele Creek Area that used to go to Lake Wylie Elementary now fall under Wingate. Sometimes it's hard to keep up with all the changes CMS does.
Ani

P.S.
Does anyone have news about the new Dixie River school opening in 2009 2010 school year?

I can not imagine living so close to the airport. The noise day and night must be awful. I visit friend just off of Brown Grier and the noise of plane after plane is offensive. Luckily I live close to the Lake Wylie and the planes are very high by that time so the noise in not bad.

Default Berewick

That's interesting about the airplanes; I haven't noticed an above normal noise level anytime I have visited.
In fact, It doesn't look to me that Berewick is in the direct flight path at all.
I have found it to be the opposite and quite tranquil.
I guess some people are a little more sensitive than others
