Need to decide on a Bank quick!!!
I'm in search of a local bank in Charlotte to do business with. I just want to set up a checking account so I can conveniently pay my bills and such. Which Charlotte banks would you guys recommend?? I prefer local banks like the one I had back home. More stable in my opinion.
Thanks!!

My family will not deal with BB&T again. We've been using First Charter for the last five years as well. They were pretty good until they were taken over by Fifth Third. Based on conversations with friends, not many people like them too much now.
I don't have a good recommendation right now, but I'd love to hear more replies to this thread.

You just answered a question I have been pondering on . Thank You.
I have been wondering where this Fifth Third Bank has come from.
I should have pick up on the color scheme & design of their buildings that it was first charter.
I would suggest SECU there banking & loans are great but its online banking is a little dated and there family requirments to become a member. You could check other credit unions though.

Bank of Granite. Checking account earns 6% interest up to $25000 and other bank atm fees are refunded.

I really like Wachovia. They have fantastic customer service and the online banking is great.

DGarth08, I know you want a small bank, but I think you'd be better off and more secure in this economy with a bigger bank. Though I think even small banks are FDIC insured, still...
I have been with Bank of America for 14 yrs...tried 2 others inbetween, and was unhappy.
Do let us know when you decide, which bank you went with and why. Good Luck!
