I would second the mention of Bad Dogs - i think their fries are made with peanut oil, which makes them almost, errr, healthy
(Wash it all down with an $.80 domestic draft on Thursdays)

I throw another vote in for Dukes. It's not pretty but the burgers and service are great!

Just had a cheeseburger for the first time at Matt's Chicago Dogs. Awesome!

I'm uppity- Lulu has some pretty yummy burgers.

Other than that, Bad Dog is where we go.

Let me know if you try this, been curious -- the fact that it's still open on that stretch of Independence says something.

South21 makes a good hamburger.
As a child I remember sitting in the back of my parents VW beetle at the old Independence Blvd location (near what is now Cricket Arena, fmr Charlotte Coliseum) eating a hamburger. The old locations (2) were car-hop drive-ins.

I'm planning on going there if we go back! Do I need to make sure it's during the day or something?

For my day-to-day burger needs, I like Five Guys.

When I want something a little fancier, and with fried egg on it, Big Daddy's is the place to be. I also had a burger with egg on it at NoFo for lunch once, and it was delicious.

probably no one here has been there, but there is a hole in the wall place on Atando Ave called Rainbow Grill. That place is amazing. Close to like Dukes in Monroe, but bigger burgers and more grease... and you know that makes it better!
